This December, the Oak Park Community Garden is excited to welcome first graders from Oak Hills Elementary for their first-ever field trip! Students will taste fresh, organic lettuce wraps, learn about food chains, pollination, monarch butterflies, and meet Jenna Salim from Ventura County Farm to School (https://www.vcfarmtoschool.org/), who will share persimmons and insights. It’s set to be a fun and educational experience!
We're excited to host this event again on January 22nd and 29th, 2025!
We invite you to bring a favorite dish made with vegetables from your garden for sharing. We will be joined by an Athens Services Sustainability Specialist for a brief presentation on commercial composting. This will be followed by a second composting presentation by our very own celebrity composter who will share his secrets for creating "black gold" compost.
